The Problem: Exporting Logos One Format at a Time

Manual logo export comparison: 6 separate dialogs taking 30+ minutes vs the Illustrator script exporting all formats in 1 click within seconds

Delivering a finished logo means exporting the same artwork across multiple formats — vector masters for print and further editing, raster files for web and social. Doing that by hand means repeating the same export dialog six separate times. This script exports the active document to a full 6-format suite — AI, EPS, PDF, SVG, PNG, and JPG — in a single click.

My Experience: Why I Built This

In the video above, I show the exact situation that pushed me to build this script. I had finished a logo in Illustrator, and I needed to save it out file by file — the SVG file, the Illustrator file, the PDF file — one export dialog after another. It takes a lot of time, and that is before the client asks for 4 or 5 versions of the logo, which multiplies every one of those manual exports.

Here is the part I want to be honest about: I do not know how to code. So I opened Gemini, told it I wanted a script, and gave it my exact requirements — the sizes, the file formats, and the color codes I needed. Gemini wrote the JavaScript for me. I copied the code into a Notepad file, saved it with a proper filename on my desktop, and that file became the script.

Then I installed it the way I show in the video: I went to my computer's C drive, into Program Files, then Adobe, Adobe Illustrator, Presets, and finally the Scripts folder, and placed the file there. After refreshing Illustrator, the script appeared in the menu. I clicked it, it asked me where to save everything, I picked a folder I had already made, and within seconds a notification told me all the files were saved. All 6 files — the vector ones in CMYK, the raster ones in RGB — done in seconds instead of repeated manual exports. That is the workflow this post is about, and the video shows every step exactly as I did it.

What the Script Exports

One script run exports all 6 logo formats: AI, EPS, PDF in CMYK for print and SVG, PNG, JPG in RGB for web with color mode handled automatically

One run produces all six formats, with the color handling done for you:

FormatColor modeNotes
AICMYKVector master, fully editable
EPSCMYKPrint-ready vector
PDFCMYKUniversal vector delivery
SVGRGBWeb vector
PNGRGB5000px on the longest side; preserves full logo bounds (not clipped to the artboard)
JPGRGB5000px on the longest side; uses artboard clipping

PNG and JPG are rendered at 5000px on the longest side automatically, scaled precisely from your artboard proportions. The script switches the document's color mode for the CMYK vector batch, then to RGB for the raster/SVG batch, and restores your original color mode when finished — you never touch color settings yourself.

How to Use It: Step by Step

4-step workflow to use the Illustrator logo export script: install the jsx file, prepare a clean artboard, run with zero settings, confirm all 6 files saved in seconds

  1. Install the script. Run it once via File > Scripts > Other Script…, or copy the .jsx file into your Scripts folder for permanent access. If you are unsure about the install, read my guide on how to install Illustrator scripts the right way.
  2. Prepare your file. Open your finished logo file so the final artwork is the only thing on the active artboard. Since PNG/JPG sizing is calculated from your active artboard's proportions, make sure only your final logo sits on the artboard before running — extra elements will throw off the scale calculation.
  3. Run the script. There is zero settings dialog — pick a destination folder when prompted (you can create a new folder right there) and it runs immediately.
  4. Confirm and check. All 6 formats export automatically with no further input. A notification confirms everything saved. Your document's original color mode is restored automatically once the export finishes.

Tips and Troubleshooting

Logo export tips: watch the artboard before exporting, PNG preserves full logo bounds while JPG clips to the artboard, and batch multiple logo versions in separate folders

  • If the CMYK export batch fails partway through, the script restores your original color mode and stops before starting the RGB batch — check the alert message to see which specific format failed, fix the underlying issue (often a corrupt effect or an unsupported object), and run it again.
  • Watch the artboard. Because the 5000px render is scaled from your active artboard's proportions, stray elements or an oversized artboard will distort the output size. Clean the artboard first.
  • PNG vs. JPG bounds. PNG preserves the full logo bounds (nothing clipped to the artboard); JPG uses artboard clipping. Pick the right file when you hand work to a client or upload to a marketplace.
  • Batching versions. If a client needs 4–5 logo versions, run the script once per version into separate folders. Each run takes seconds, which is exactly the scenario this script was built for.
  • - Naming your exports. The script saves each format with the document name as the base, so name your Illustrator file clearly before running (e.g. "clientname-logo-final.ai"). This keeps all six exports consistently named and easy to find later, especially when you are delivering multiple logo versions to the same client.

Conclusion

Exporting a finished logo no longer has to mean repeating the same dialog six times. With the Export Logo Suite script, one click produces the full six-format set — CMYK vectors for print and further editing, RGB rasters at 5000px for web — and your document's original color mode is restored automatically. Name your file clearly, clean up the artboard, and run it once per logo version: what used to take many minutes now takes seconds.

FAQ

Which Illustrator versions does it work with?

The script is built for Illustrator CC with broad compatibility, as listed on the download card. It uses standard ExtendScript, so it runs on recent Creative Cloud releases.

Can I change the 5000px export size?

Not from a settings dialog — the script is deliberately zero-dialog for speed. Changing the size would mean editing the script's code, which is a small tweak if you are comfortable opening the .jsx file.

What happens if an export fails halfway?

The script is designed to fail safely: it restores your document's original color mode, stops before the next batch, and shows an alert naming the format that failed.

Do I need to know coding to use or tweak it?

No. I built the original version without knowing how to code myself, by describing my requirements to an AI assistant. Using it needs no code at all — just run it and pick a folder.
